earth from the air [Oct. 16th, 2004|03:08 pm]

Hey everyone,

I notice that little by little people are joining this community, which is great, especially considering the fact that it hasn't been actively advertised in any way. So with this post I'd like to welcome all new members, and encourage you all to participate, comment, post new messages, start discussions etc.

In the meantime, here's an interesting link for you all:

This is a homepage for the project that photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand did for over 10 years traveling all over the world taking pictures of the Earth from above. At the moment these works are exhibited throughout the UK, and I think other countries as well. Some of the photographs come along with commentary and can be viewed in the "gallery" section.

Here's a snippet:

Kuwait. Iraqi tank graveyard in the desert near Jahra.

Ooh. Someone bought my parents the big coffee-table book of Earth from the Air... some of the photos are really rather impressive.

Heh. Well, I would do, but as I live at entirely the other end of the country from them I may have to settle for telling them to go and see it. :-)
